First Time Director Gord Halloran Short listed for $10,000 Shavick Award

SINGING THE BONES, a feature-length motion picture shot in digital video on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia put first time director Gordon Halloran on the short-list for the first prize of $10,000 in the 3rd annual SHAVICK AWARDS. Sixty film entries from Western Canada competed for three awards created to recognize creative talent in aspiring directors and to support emerging artists and craftspeople living in Western Canada and working in the film industry. Entries were limited to first time directors of fictional work. To qualify for the competition, entrants must not have been earning a living as a director prior to filming their submission. Ten films were short-listed, three won. A cash prize of $10,000 was awarded for first place followed by $5,000 for second and $2,000 for third.
